SUMMARY
Major General Don Massimo IACOPI, born in Assisi on October 20, 1944, holds a Degree in Strategic Sciences and a Specialization in Geopolitics. He attended the 20th Course of the Military Academy of Modena and the 145th Course of the Artillery Application School in Turin. Early in his career, he served in the 3rd Heavy Field Artillery in Pisa, the 5th and 4th Anti-Aircraft Regiments, where he commanded a Hawk operational battery in Cremona. He completed the 100th Senior Staff Course at the War College in Civitavecchia and subsequently served at the Military Commands of SARDINIA as Chief of the Training Section, and SICILY as Chief of Training and Mobilization and Chief of the Intelligence and Military Police Section. After attending the Command and General Staff College of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro, he commanded the 3rd and 2nd Self-Propelled Groups of the Horse Artillery Regiment in Milan. He later served as Section Commander and Adjunct Instructor of Logistics and Fire Employment for the Staff Course at the War College. Following his terms as the 25th Commander of the 121st Anti-Aircraft Regiment in Bologna and the 47th Commander of the Military District of Perugia, he served three years in Paris (from 1993) as Director in charge of the Launchers, Missiles, and Logistics Divisions of the FSAF SAMP/T Missile Development Program. In 1997, he was the last Chief of the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Office of the former Artillery Inspectorate. National Delegate to the WEU “FINABEL DELTA” Working Group (1997-1998) and Head of the National Delegation to the NATO Steering Committee for the development of SHORAD/VSHORAD missile systems (1997-1999), he attended the 50th Session of the Institute for High Defence Studies (IASD) in Rome. From October 14, 1999, to October 19, 2002, he served as the 40th Commander of the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Training and Experimentation Center in Sabaudia and General Attached (Inspector) to the Italian Army Anti-Aircraft Artillery. Nobleman of PISTOIA and FLORENCE, Journalist, Lecturer, and Adjunct Professor of Contemporary History at the Faculty of Letters in Perugia (2009-2011). He is the Founder and General Regent (from July 2002 to present) of the “Custodia del Grifo Arciere” Awards System, officially recognized by the Italian Ministry of Defence since January 2008.
